Buggy Registration?
« on: June 06, 2014, 04:42:01 PM »
NM MVD requires a bill of sale for any major components. I bought my motor on eBay a couple of years ago and if I got a BOS I have no idea what I did with it. I sent the seller an email assuming they are still active. Any idea what to do otherwise? MVD is closed, otherwise I would call in hopes that someone would actually answer the phone!

Yeah, you need a Vehicle Affirmation Equipment form, an Affirmation for Specially Constructed or Reconstructed Vehicle form, a Weight Certificate, and a BOS for the purchase of major components. I assume that helps ensure that people don't use parts from stolen vehicles.

If I can't get in touch with the seller then I'll just wing it next week and hope for the best. Maybe they'll overlook it. They didn't seem too uptight when I registered my trailer.

They have no idea who the seller was . YOU just need to make out a dated BS BOS on a piece of note paper, sign it with some BS name ,fairly illegible, and VIOLA! You might need a proof of payment with it to verify.

+1   The only thing they do here is run the VIN on the engine to make sure it's not in the system somewhere as stolen.  Other than that the Bill of Sale is just a formality.

I agree.  They are also easier to work with in Cuba.

Good point. If I have an issue in Albuquerque then I'll head down to Cuba and try there. Thanks!

Done! The buggy has a VIN. They didn't even ask for a BOS. Now for the insurance!
